| Lake Wingra Future Goals | By Unknown on Apr 27 2008 at 11:02 AM |
| Many muskie anglers with Cap. City M.I., Flatlanders M.I., as well as non members fish Lake Wingra frequently during the season. Many of us are concerned about the health of the lake. All of us would like to see the carp population reduced as long as any carp reduction efforts do not harm game fish that currently reside in the lake. Wingra is a very fertile lake and we would like to have more water clarity but understand with water clarity comes more milfoil growth due to sunlight enriching imbedded weeds. The current laws governing the use of gas powered motors on weekdays to 5mph and use of electric trolling motors on weekends should Not be changed. Wingra is a very safe and quiet lake with the current laws in effect and these laws should remain intact. CCMI and other fishng clubs should stand ready to work with Friends of Lake Wingra to maintain a quality experience on the lake. Steve Reintra Past Pres. and Board Member CCMI |

| Are muskies considered invasive species? | By Unknown on Apr 30 2008 at 7:05 PM |
| The Friends of Lake Wingra state that one of their goals is getting non-native or invasive species under control. Does anyone know if muskies are non-native to Wingra and is it the Friends of Lake Wingra's goal to get the musky population under "control"? That seems to be a pretty broad statement. Shane West |

| Wingra Comment | By Unknown on May 14 2008 at 9:29 PM |
| Steve put things very well in his comment. What the Friends group also needs to keep in mind is lake Wingra is quite old in lake years. It has probably aged quite faster than necessary due to storm water runoff. There is no quick simple cheap fix to that problem. How does the friends group plan to pay for getting the lake in the state they would like to see it 30 years from now? Improvements will cost quite a bit and I hope they keep that in mind as well. What ever happens with this issue, please do not let them compromise the quality & diversity of the fishery that has been in place for more than 20 years. An improved parking / access to the lake would be nice though. | |
