How the Musky Fishery in Wisconsin May be Changing with Our Changing Climate

Please join us for a presentation by Capital City Muskies Inc board member Keith Reopelle who will share research and his insights about how our changing climate may affect the musky fishery in Wisconsin.  The presentation will include published research findings on topics ranging from how muskies evolved to become the ultimate apex predators of freshwater lakes and rivers in North America to how their environment continues to evolve as the climate changes.  Keith will also discuss how anglers can get involved and support efforts to keep Wisconsin’s fisheries and fishing heritage strong.

Wisconsin is blessed with having some of the nation’s leading experts on how the climate is changing locally and how it’s affecting local and statewide resources, including fisheries.  The Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI) is a statewide collaboration of scientists and stakeholders formed as a partnership between UW-Madison’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. WICCI’s goals are to evaluate climate change impacts on Wisconsin and foster solutions.  Keith’s presentation will lean heavily on the reports and findings published by WICCI researchers.
